I'm Arif Bukera, a self-taught tech enthusiast based in Kenya. I've spent the past 5 years buying, using, and researching consumer technology as a passionate hobby β from smartwatches and headphones to a real smart home setup I run in my own home.
I started doing structured tech research back in 2023, and I officially launched Smart Gear Select at smartgearselect.com in October 2025 to share that work publicly and help buyers make confident decisions.
I built this site because I was frustrated with affiliate review sites that clearly never used the products they recommended. My approach is different: I'm transparent about what I personally own versus what I recommend through research, I personally contact sellers to verify quality, and I cite my sources.
