All three models launch with Android 16 and One UI 8.5, include IP68 water and dust resistance, and support Wi-Fi 7. Specifications and connectivity options can vary by market and carrier. None of the three supports a microSD card.
The Galaxy S26 features that matter most
1. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy across the range
Samsung uses the customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy throughout the U.S. lineup. Samsung reports that the S26 Ultra delivers up to 19% higher CPU performance, 24% higher GPU performance and 39% higher NPU performance than the S25 Ultra. Treat those figures as manufacturer claims rather than independent Smart Gear Select test results.
2. More proactive Galaxy AI tools
Now Nudge can surface contextual suggestions, while Now Brief provides reminders and updates based on personal context. Samsung also highlights an upgraded conversational Bixby and access to agents including Gemini and Perplexity. Some features require a Samsung or third-party account, an internet connection, or supported languages and regions.
3. The Ultra gets the most meaningful hardware additions
The S26 Ultra combines a 200MP main camera with 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras, wider camera apertures, 60W wired charging and a redesigned vapor chamber. It also introduces Samsung’s built-in Privacy Display, which can limit side-angle visibility when enabled. The S Pen remains included, although Samsung says it does not support Bluetooth Air Actions.
4. The base S26 starts with more storage and a larger battery
The base S26 moves to 256GB of starting storage, compared with 128GB on the launch configuration of the S25. Its display grows from 6.2 to 6.3 inches and its typical battery capacity rises from 4,000mAh to 4,300mAh. Wired charging remains capped at 25W.
